The Bhopal Gas Tragedy, which occurred on the night of December 2-3, 1984, is considered one of the world’s worst industrial disasters. The disaster took place in Bhopal, India, when a highly toxic gas, methyl isocyanate (MIC), leaked from a pesticide plant owned by Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL), a subsidiary of the American company Union Carbide Corporation (UCC).
